The WICC Review - Sep. 2025

Welcome back! Are you ready to SOAR? I hope you all are refreshed and renewed ready to do what we do best - serve our community! Your board has worked hard and planned so many exciting, informative and fun things for us to do this year as well as many service opportunities for you to choose from. I would like to remind you again that you are not obliged to take part in all that are offered, pick and choose what you wish to support. As a club member, you are only obliged to buy a ticket for each of the major fund raisers (Spaghetti Dinner and Military Gala).

When you come to meetings, do you always sit with the same members? Are these the only ones you socialize with; do you know our new members; do you greet others whom you don’t know? We are all here for the same purpose, why not find someone else to get to know this year. WE are not just “sisters” WE are “family”. A family takes time for each of its members. We learn to respect each other and share with each other. Have you reached out to others? Make it a goal this year to introduce yourself to others. This is an election year and we will be nominating candidates. We need to make good choices and elect the best leaders we can.

September is Service Month. Our bench is ready to be placed at the Butterfield Memorial. At this time, I am working with the city to get it in by 9/11 so that we can have a ribbon cutting. More information to follow. Since you have helped me accomplish my project my first year, I have chosen Angel Hart as my new project. Angel Hart is an organization that was founded by a teacher who works with unhoused and low-income high schoolers by making sure they have school supplies, food, and other essentials. At one time she was supporting her program out of her own pocket. She will be one of our speakers this year.

Have an awesome year and make a new friend. Remember in the words of Sister Sledge, “We are family- I’ve got all my sisters and me”. Also be on the look-out for bears. They may appear at any time. I leave you with one last thought -

“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” — Ruth Bader Ginsburg
