History of the Woman's Improvement
Club of Corona
Improvement Club of Corona was organized in 1899 by the
daughter of Dr. Platt, a local physician; the ladies'
first priority was to improve their community.
They even cleaned the streets and arranged to have
rubbish carted away and agitated for a permanent
sanitation department. Incorporated in 1910 with
approximately 20 members, they built our present
clubhouse in 1913. The club was federated with the
State and District in 1904 and with the General
Federation in 1912. It has been a vital part of
our community and was instrumental in organizing many of
the local services now available.
